About LEAP

Liberty Equine Assisted Programs (LEAP) was founded to create trauma-informed, relationship-centered spaces where people and horses can grow together over time. Our work is grounded in consent, patience, and respect for lived experience—human and equine alike. Partnering with Novo Springs, we are able to offer a  personalized, holistic and deeply transformative experience to every individual who steps foot into the sacred space we share with horses.

LEAP’s programs reflect a belief that meaningful growth cannot be rushed or standardized. Instead, it unfolds through presence, consistency, and relationship, supported by horses whose honesty invites clarity, regulation, and growth.

LEADERSHIP

LEAP is led by individuals who hold deep respect for the responsibility involved in equine-assisted  work. Leadership at LEAP is grounded in lived experience, long-term relationship with horses, and a commitment to ethical, trauma-informed practice that integrates body awareness, nervous system regulation, and attachment theory to promote healing.

Regina is the founder of Liberty Equine Assisted Programs and the creator of the Lore Project. With 20 years of experience working with horses, she brings more than twelve years of experience developing therapy horses through relationship-based, trauma-aware training rooted in patience, listening, and nervous system awareness.

With a master degree in Trauma and Crisis First Response and currently on-track to become a Mental Health counselor, Regina carries years of personal and professional development within the mental health field.

Regina’s work is shaped by long-term partnership with horses who challenged conventional timelines and expectations, teaching her that readiness cannot be forced and that healing—human or equine—requires consistency, clarity, and trust. Her approach emphasizes stewardship over outcome and honors the depth that emerges when time is treated as an ally rather than an obstacle.

My path to this work has been guided by a lifelong curiosity about connection, behavior, and the healing power of the natural world. Today, I have the privilege of supporting individuals through equine-assisted experiences that invite growth, reflection, and meaningful change.

When you work with me, you can expect a calm, grounded, and compassionate presence. I approach each session with humility and openness, honoring that you are the expert of your own story. Together, we create a safe and supportive space where you can explore challenges, deepen self-awareness, and build confidence at your own pace.

I believe that healing often happens in relationship - and the partnership between human and horse offers a powerful, experiential way to rediscover strength, clarity, and emotional balance. It is truly an honor to walk alongside clients in their journey, and I value the trust it takes to share that space.

My commitment is to meet you where you are and support you with care, respect, and genuine presence every step of the way.

Board Members

Regina - President

After working in the equine industry since 2008 and equine-assisted activities since 2015, Regina founded LEAP in August of 2025. With a strong background in psychology, she's earning her second masters with the goal to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.

The meaning behind the Lore Project is her life's passion, seeking to incorporate equine welfare and wellbeing into every possible avenue of the horsemanship field.

She has a service dog named Jasper,  a strong love for chicken wings (flats) and making gluten-free goodies!

Sara - Secretary

Sara is currently finishing up her ESMHL certification through PATH International, and previously worked as a full time Program Coordinator & Instructor for a Therapeutic Horsemanship facility in the Hudson Valley. She began working with horses around the age of 12, first volunteering at a local lesson barn in Sanitaria Springs, NY by leading trail rides and arena lessons, and assisting with training American Quarter Horses for barrel racing and pole bending. After re-discovering her love for horses and the incredible effect their partnership can have on humans, she is beyond excited to delve even deeper into Equine-Assisted Services utilizing her background in trauma informed care.

Ruta - Treasurer

Ruta is a certified Project manager with over 20 years experience in business management and nonprofit fundraising. She enjoys volunteering her time as a LEAP board member and a Liberty NY rotarian.
