Mission Statement

LEAP’s mission is to create trauma-informed, equine-assisted experiences where people and rescue horses heal together—and to cultivate confident, relationship-based therapy horses for the communities that need them.

About Liberty Equine Assisted Program

Why LEAP Exists

LEAP was founded in partnership with Rise Again Retreats on the understanding that healing—human or equine—cannot be rushed, forced, or measured on someone else’s timeline.

Through years of relationship-based work, we have witnessed what becomes possible when time, patience, and presence are honored. Horses once overlooked can become exceptional partners. People who have been told they are “too much” can find steadiness, agency, and belonging.

LEAP exists to hold space for that kind of becoming.

How We Do The Work

  • Relationship first: horses are partners, not tools
  • Consent, communication and choice guide every interaction
  • Mutual healing through shared regulation and learning
  • Presence over performance — there is no “right way” to show up
  • Respect for lived experience, human and equine
  • Facilitated by a PATH International certified Equine Specialist in Mental Health and Learning

Who this is for

LEAP serves individuals and communities seeking meaningful, experiential support—particularly those navigating trauma, life transitions, or disconnection. Our work is especially supportive for people who have often been pushed to the margins or labeled “too much,” and who are looking for a place where they can belong without explanation.
